Looking back on 2025, it was a difficult year for many national and local businesses. Many long-standing businesses in Harlingen closed. However, some new businesses opened, and more are on the way in 2026.

On the second Saturday of each December, Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery takes part in the Wreaths Across America program to place Christmas wreaths on the graves of more than 200 veterans.
