Wine lovers Beata Dawi and her daughter, Ashley David, enjoy traveling to Fredericksburg, Texas to sip and sample different wines while enjoying views of a vineyard. They are striving to bring that type of peaceful and enchanted experience to Harlingen, Texas with their upcoming restaurant, The 83 Winery.
They are currently under construction, converting a rustic home off of Bass Blvd. They had hoped to grow grapes on their property to make their own wine. But the freeze from last winter ruined about half of what they planted. Instead, Beata and Ashley will feature wine from all over (California, Texas, and even some wineries from the Rio Grande Valley). Besides wine, they will have a liquor license to serve cocktails. They plan on serving light plates such as charcuterie boards, panini sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas. They will also have hookah and cigars.
The majority of the seating will be outside on the backyard deck so that patrons get the full vineyard experience. However, indoor seating will also be available. The indoor bar is being made from an ebony tree that was on the property, making it a strikingly beautiful and unique bar top.
The 83 Winery will be open Tuesdays through Thursdays, 3 pm to 11 pm; Fridays and Saturdays, 3 pm to midnight; and Sundays for brunch. They will only close on Mondays. They intend on hosting wine tastings and featuring live acoustic music.
UPDATE: Opening date is December 3, 2021.
