A question I get asked often is, “Where can kids eat for free in Harlingen?” I used to have several restaurants on my list; however, that list has gotten smaller since the Covid-19 pandemic.
I know of two Harlingen restaurants that currently offer free kid meals on certain days:
Luby’s (2506 S. 77 Sunshine Strip) has free kid’s meals on Wednesdays and Saturdays! Kids must be age 12 and younger, and the adult must purchase an entree. Starting August 18 through December 31, 2021, kids are eligible to receive a free kid’s meal after reading six books. They must complete the following form with help from a parent and teacher.
J&R Snack Bar (602 W. Harrison, Suite A) has free kid’s meals on Thursdays! Kids must be age 17 or younger, and no purchase is necessary. They can choose from a burrito, corn dog, or hot dog. The meal comes with chips and Kool-Aid. This summer promo has been extended through the end of 2021!
Denny’s and IHOP have had kids eat free promos in the past but it will depend on the individual location. Chili's Bar & Grill also offers kids eat free deals, but only if you join My Chili's Rewards email list.
It’s a good idea to confirm with your server at the restaurant before ordering that the kids eat free promo is still valid so there aren’t any surprises when the bill comes. I will keep this list updated as promotions change.
