Out with Luby's; in with Spec's

UPDATE: Spec’s opened on March 5, 2022.
The Luby's Cafeteria at 822 Dixieland Road in Harlingen closed on June 16, 2021. The buyer of the property, John McClure, plans to open a Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods in its place. Spec's serves the Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and DFW areas in Texas. They also own Feldman's Liquor & Wines. The site plan of the property will not change, but the floor plan will be remodeled. Per the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation , the renovations are scheduled to begin in October 2021. (The other Luby's Cafeteria in Harlingen at 2506 S. 77 Sunshine Strip remains open at this time.)
